Civic-compatible by design.
WhatFats is public-interest infrastructure for food-preparation transparency: an evidence graph that records what touched your food, from biological source to the plate, with every claim carrying its source, confidence and revision history. We are not a regulator and never pose as one. We are the neutral register a regulator, municipality or research institution can build on.
What institutions get
Aggregate transparency statistics per municipality, methodology metadata and research-safe datasets. No dependency on our front-end; public read API is live today.
Every score points to a versioned methodology and an input snapshot. Facts are never deleted: they are superseded, keeping institutional memory intact.
A binding constitution outranks our commercial interests: money cannot buy a better score, unknown stays unknown, businesses are rewarded for disclosure and never publicly shamed.
Country-adapter architecture: Belgium is reference implementation #1 (official registry data, NACEBEL sectors, municipal geography). Every EU member state is an adapter, not a fork. GS1/EPCIS-compatible provenance.
The model, in one line
Like Car-Pass did for mileage fraud in Belgian automotive: one neutral register, sector participation, and a document that belongs on every menu - starting voluntary, earning its way to standard. The consumer question is universal: "what fat do you cook in?"
Honest state of the register
501 real venue(s), 247 municipalities mapped, 7 canonical fats in the ontology. We publish statistics only above confidence thresholds: you will never see a percentage built on thin data. Full population coverage arrives with the Belgian business-register (KBO/CBE) integration.

Municipalities (transparency coverage for your residents), food agencies (a preparation layer that complements official inspection data), research institutions (methodology + datasets), and mission-aligned funders (public-interest infrastructure with a commercial engine that never sells the truth). mo@digitalfarmers.be
WhatFats is built and operated by Digital Farmers (Belgium) as government-ready infrastructure. Official regulator information always remains official regulator information; we add the preparation-transparency layer.
